Moonflower (Ipomoea alba) is a vigorous climbing vine known for large, fragrant white flowers that open at dusk. This 2 pack contains 120 heirloom, non-GMO, open-pollinated seeds total, with 60 seeds per pack.

WHAT DO MOONFLOWER BLOOMS LOOK LIKE? Large, pure-white trumpet-shaped flowers reach 4–6 in. across and open at dusk before closing by mid-morning. Their bright white color and evening fragrance make Moonflower a standout for moon gardens and nighttime landscapes.

WHEN DOES MOONFLOWER BLOOM? Flowers appear from midsummer through frost, opening in the evening when many daytime flowers have closed. The night-blooming habit creates seasonal color and fragrance around patios, pergolas, fences, and garden seating areas.

WHAT GROWING CONDITIONS DO MOONFLOWERS NEED? Grow in full sun with 6–8 hours of direct light daily and well-drained, average to poor soil. Moonflower thrives in summer heat but is frost sensitive. Avoid excess nitrogen, which can encourage foliage instead of flowers.

HOW DO I GERMINATE MOONFLOWER SEEDS? Nick the hard seed coat with sandpaper or a nail file, then soak seeds overnight in warm water before planting. Sow ½ in. deep at 70–85°F and expect germination in approximately 7–14 days.

HOW LARGE DOES MOONFLOWER VINE GROW? This vigorous climbing vine can reach 10–15 ft. in a single growing season. Provide a trellis, arbor, fence, pergola, or other vertical support at planting time so the developing vines have room to climb.

WHAT POLLINATORS DO MOONFLOWERS ATTRACT? Night-opening flowers attract Sphinx moths and Hummingbird moths, important nighttime pollinators drawn to the large white blooms and evening fragrance. Hummingbirds may also visit around dusk or dawn.

IS MOONFLOWER AN ANNUAL OR PERENNIAL? Moonflower is grown as an annual across USDA zones 3–11, completing its flowering cycle within one season. In warm, frost-free climates it may grow as a perennial.

HOW DO I PLANT MOONFLOWER SEEDS OUTDOORS? Direct sow after frost danger has passed and soil has warmed. Plant ½ in. deep and space plants 6–12 in. apart near their support. Seeds can also be started indoors 4–6 weeks before transplanting outdoors.

WHERE SHOULD I GROW MOONFLOWER VINES? Train vines along trellises, arbors, fences, pergolas, or sturdy container supports. Their fragrant white flowers are especially suited to moon gardens, patios, and other outdoor spaces enjoyed during the evening.

Overview

Indoor/Outdoor Usage : Outdoor

Brand : HOME GROWN

Material Feature : GMO Free, Heirloom

Color : Pure White

Special Feature : Fast Growing Climbing Vine, Fragrant, Heat Tolerant, Night Blooming, Night Pollinator Friendly

Expected Blooming Period : Mid-Summer to Frost

Sunlight Exposure : Full Sun

Unit Count : 2 Count

Expected Planting Period : Spring

Product Care Instructions : Scarify and soak seeds.
