Heirloom, non-GMO, open-pollinated. Ideal for trellises, arbors, moon gardens, and evening patios. Annual in zones 3–11.

LARGE WHITE BLOOMS AT DUSK: Each moon flower opens at dusk, perfuming the evening air with its 4–6 in. (10–15 cm) funnel-shaped white trumpet, then closes by mid-morning. Blooms repeat from mid-summer through frost for months of nightly color.

FULL SUN, AVERAGE TO POOR SOIL: Moonflowers thrive in well-drained, average to poor soil with 6–8 hours of direct sun daily. Avoid heavy nitrogen fertilizer, which pushes leafy growth at the expense of blooms. Heat-loving; very frost sensitive.

SCARIFY AND SOW FOR BEST GERMINATION: Nick seeds with sandpaper or a nail file, then soak overnight in warm water before planting. This simple prep boosts germination dramatically. Seeds sprout in 7–14 days at 70–85°F after last frost.

VIGOROUS CLIMBER REACHING 10 TO 15 FT: This moonflower vine reaches 10–15 ft. in a single season. Provide a trellis, arbor, fence, or pergola at planting time. Roots are sensitive to disturbance, so plant near the support from the start.

ATTRACTS NIGHTTIME MOTH POLLINATORS: Moonflower's large, fragrant white blooms attract Sphinx moths and Hummingbird moths active at dusk and night. Hummingbirds may also visit around dusk and dawn, adding unique pollinator activity to evening gardens.

ANNUAL VINE, PERENNIAL IN ZONES 10 TO 12: Moonflower grows as a vigorous annual across USDA zones 3–11, completing its flowering cycle in one season. In frost-free zones 10–12, it grows as a perennial. Plants are also deer resistant once established.

DIRECT SOW AFTER LAST FROST: For moonflower seeds for planting outdoors, direct sow at ½ in. depth, spacing 6–12 in. apart along a trellis, once soil reaches 70°F. Or start indoors 4–6 weeks early for transplant. Avoid disturbing roots when moving.

WHITE MORNING GLORY RELATIVE, DISTINCT BLOOMS: Moonflower (Ipomoea alba) belongs to the morning glory family but blooms at night rather than by day. The white, fragrant trumpets are larger than typical morning glory flowers, measuring 4–6 in. across.

MOON GARDEN SEEDS FOR EVENING SPACES: Plant moonflower vines along bedroom-window trellises, patio pergolas, or dedicated moon garden beds. The glowing white blooms and evening fragrance make them a standout in nighttime landscape designs.

Overview

Indoor/Outdoor Usage : Outdoor

Brand : HOME GROWN

Material Feature : GMO Free, Heirloom

Color : Pure White

Special Feature : Attracts Moth Pollinators, Climbing Vine, Fragrant, Night-Blooming, Trellis-Ready

Expected Blooming Period : Mid-Summer to Frost

Sunlight Exposure : Full Sun

Unit Count : 1 Count

Expected Planting Period : Fall

Product Care Instructions : Scarify and soak seeds.
